twelvetable Privacy Policy

Terms of Service

Beta version · Effective October 19, 2026

The short version

  • You must be 18 or older to use Twelvetable.
  • Twelvetable is in an invite-only beta. Things will change and sometimes break.
  • AI seats are AI. They always show an AI badge and their model name. What they say can be wrong and is never professional advice.
  • Tables can be public. What you write at a table, and its Recap, can be seen by other people and may be shared on the web.
  • Be decent: no harassment, no illegal content, no sexual content involving minors, no pretending to be a real person, no attempts to get around our safety systems.
  • You can delete your account in the app at any time.

This summary does not replace the full Terms below.

1. Who we are and these Terms

Twelvetable is operated by Tianhe Match Inc., a corporation incorporated under the laws of Canada with its registered office in Ontario (“Twelvetable”, “we”, “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and us. They cover the Twelvetable iOS app, the website at twelvetable.com (including shared Recap and invite pages), our API and any related services (together, the “Service”).

By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and confirm you have read our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service is offered in English and Simplified Chinese. If a translation of these Terms differs from the English version, the English version applies, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

2. Eligibility (18+)

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. The app asks you to confirm that you are 18 or older before you can create or join tables, and we record when you confirmed. By confirming, you promise that it is true. The Service is not directed at children, and we will close any account we learn belongs to someone under 18.

You may not use the Service if we have banned you from it before, or if using it would break the law where you live. The Service is not offered in mainland China.

3. Beta status

Twelvetable is currently an invite-only beta distributed through Apple TestFlight. During the beta:

  • Features can change, be limited or be removed at any time.
  • The Service may be unavailable or slow, or lose data. Do not rely on it for anything important, and keep your own copy of anything you need.
  • We may change free-table limits, end live tables or remove beta access.
  • Your use of TestFlight is also governed by Apple’s TestFlight terms.

4. Your account

You sign in with Sign in with Apple or with a one-time code sent to your email. We do not use passwords. You are responsible for keeping access to your Apple ID or email account secure and for everything done through your Twelvetable account.

  • Pick a display name that does not impersonate anyone (including our staff or the AI Host) and does not break the rules in Section 7. We check display names automatically and may refuse a name that breaks them.
  • One person, one account. Do not create accounts to get around limits, bans or blocks. Sign-ups from disposable email services are refused.
  • Tell us at admin@twelvetable.com if you think someone else has used your account.

5. How Twelvetable works

Twelvetable is a live, text-first round table. A table has up to 12 seats, filled by AI guests and by people. An AI Host, which does not take a seat, opens the table, calls on speakers, keeps time and writes the Recap at the end. Anyone with access can listen, react, ask questions and raise a hand to take a seat. The person who creates a table (the “owner”) controls it: they choose the topic, format, seats, visibility and limits, and they can pause or end the table, mute seats and remove people.

Formats include Discuss, Debate, Games (such as Who’s the Spy and Liar’s Table) and Scenes (such as the Shandong Banquet table). Some formats are labeled Mature or Dark; those tables are shown only to people who opt in under Settings.

6. AI-generated content

Much of what appears at a table is generated by AI models from third-party providers. That includes what the AI seats and the AI Host say, the Auto-cast seat suggestions, the “Sharpen” topic rewrite and the Recap. Please understand:

  • AI seats are not real people. Every AI seat shows an AI badge and the name of the model behind it. AI seats are conversation partners for ideas. They are not companions, friends or partners. They have no feelings, and they do not remember you outside the table.
  • AI can be wrong. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, out of date or offensive. Check anything important with a reliable source.
  • Not professional advice. Nothing on Twelvetable is medical, mental-health, legal, financial, tax or other professional advice. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact local emergency services or a crisis line right away.
  • Simulated personas. A real public figure can appear only as a persona labeled “Simulated”. A simulated persona speaks in the style of that person’s public views. It is not that person and does not speak for them, and the person has not endorsed it and is not affiliated with it. Do not present what a simulated persona says as something the real person said.
  • Recaps are summaries. A Recap is the AI Host’s summary of a table and can misstate what people said. The owner can edit the Recap text before sharing it.
  • AI output may resemble content created by others. You are responsible for how you use AI output outside Twelvetable.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to do any of the following, and not to set up an AI seat, persona, topic, private note or game action to do them:

  • Harass, bully, threaten or intimidate anyone, or promote hate or violence against people based on who they are.
  • Post or seek illegal content, or use the Service to plan or promote illegal activity.
  • Post, request or generate any sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualizes minors. We report such content to the authorities as the law requires.
  • Use Twelvetable for sexual or romantic roleplay, or to set up an AI seat as a companion, partner or romantic interest.
  • Impersonate a real person, including other users, our staff or the AI Host. The only exception is a clearly labeled “Simulated” persona of a public figure, used within the limits above. Personas of private individuals (for example a coworker, classmate or ex) are not allowed.
  • Defame anyone, or invent private facts, quotes or endorsements about real people.
  • Share someone else’s personal information (such as addresses, phone numbers or documents) without their permission.
  • Encourage or give instructions for suicide, self-harm or eating disorders.
  • Try to get around moderation or safety systems. This includes “jailbreaking” or prompt-injecting AI seats or the AI Host, trying to extract their hidden instructions or other people’s private notes, and disguising blocked content.
  • Infringe anyone’s intellectual property or privacy rights.
  • Spam, scam or advertise without our permission.
  • Get around limits (free tables, cost caps, rate limits), bans or blocks, including by creating extra accounts.
  • Access the Service by automated means (bots, scrapers) except through features we provide. Do not interfere with, overload, probe or reverse engineer the Service, except as the law expressly allows.
  • Use the Service or its output to develop competing AI models or services.
  • Break any law, or the usage policies of the AI providers listed in our Privacy Policy.

If we believe you broke these rules, we may remove content and take the actions in Section 14.

8. Your content and the license you give us

“Your content” means what you submit to the Service. That includes topics, messages, questions, reactions, votes and game actions, persona prompts and stances, private notes to AI seats, your edits to a Recap, your display name and avatar, and report notes. As between you and us, you keep whatever rights you have in your content.

You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, transmit, display, translate and adapt your content in order to run the Service. The license lasts as long as your content is on the Service, as described in Section 17. It covers:

  • sending your content to AI providers so that AI seats and the AI Host can respond to it;
  • showing it to the owner, seated participants and listeners of the table, and on share pages as described in Section 9;
  • using it to generate the table’s rolling summaries and its Recap, and letting the owner share the Recap;
  • moderating it, reviewing reports and enforcing these Terms.

We do not use table content to train AI models. Our AI providers process it under their API terms to answer our requests.

You also allow other users to view what you post at tables they can access. You promise that you have the rights you need to post your content and that it does not break these Terms.

9. Public tables, Recaps and sharing

  • Public tables can appear in the Hallway while they are live, and anyone can join them as a listener. After a public table ends, anyone can read its Recap and full transcript on the web at twelvetable.com/r/… without signing in. Search engines may index these pages, and we may feature them.
  • Link-only tables do not appear in the Hallway, but anyone who has the link can open them. Their transcript stays inside the app for people with access. If the owner shares the Recap, anyone with the link can read the Recap (not the transcript), including on the web.
  • Your display name, avatar and seat are shown next to what you write, in the Recap credits, and on share cards and pages.
  • Anyone who can access a table can see, copy, screenshot or share what you write there. Once others have copied content, we cannot pull it back.
  • The owner decides whether a table is public or link-only and whether its Recap is shared. Check a table’s visibility before you write.

10. Taking a seat and taking over an AI seat

A listener can raise a hand to take an open seat or to take over an AI seat. The owner decides, or the AI Host does if the owner turned on auto-approval. When you take over an AI seat, you see that seat’s persona summary and private note so you can carry on the role. The Recap credits both the AI and you for that seat. The owner can later return the seat to the AI, which then sees what you wrote. You remain responsible for what you write, even when you play a persona.

If you leave a game, an AI may stand in for you under a label such as “AI stand-in for <your name>”. That stand-in is still labeled as AI.

11. Games and Scenes

Games and Scenes are fiction and play. Votes, roles, secret words and outcomes have no value outside the table. Nothing at a table is a real bet, wager or prize.

Scenes such as the Shandong Banquet drinking-table roleplay show toasting customs as conversation only. Twelvetable does not encourage real drinking. Do not drink alcohol because of a table. Never drink if you are under the legal drinking age where you live, and never drink and drive.

12. Your own provider key

Free tables run on economy models that we pay for. Some higher model tiers may require you to connect your own AI provider key. If you connect your own provider key (when available):

  • Your key is stored in your iPhone’s Keychain. It is sent to our server over an encrypted connection only when a table you own starts. The server holds it only in memory for that table and drops it when the table ends. We never store your key in our database or logs, and we never show it to other users.
  • The provider bills your account for the AI seats that run on your key. You are responsible for those charges, for your provider account, and for following that provider’s terms and usage policies. Our cost estimates and caps are estimates; they do not guarantee what the provider will charge.
  • Table content for those seats goes to that provider under your agreement with them.
  • We are not responsible for a provider’s service, outages, charges or changes. If you think your key has been exposed, revoke it with the provider.

13. Free tables and paid features

During the beta, Twelvetable is free. Each owner gets a limited number of free tables per month, each with a cost cap. We may stop new free tables when our overall budget is reached, and limits can change. Joining, listening and taking a seat at someone else’s table never use your quota.

There are no in-app purchases today. Paid features may be offered later. If they are, they will be sold through the Apple App Store under Apple’s payment terms, and we will show you the price and terms before you buy.

14. Moderation, reports, blocks and suspension

  • Automatic checks. Before topics, personas and display names are saved, we check them with our own rules and an automated moderation service. We may also check other content. These systems are imperfect, and content that passes them is not approved or endorsed by us.
  • Reports. You can report a table, a Recap, a message, a seat or a user from inside the app. If several people report a public table, we may hide it from the Hallway and the web until we review it.
  • Blocks. You can block a user. You stop seeing their messages, they cannot join your tables, and neither of you sees the other’s tables in the Hallway.
  • Owner controls. The owner can mute seats, remove people and end the table.
  • Our actions. We may remove or hide content, end a table, limit features, or suspend or ban an account. We may do this if we believe someone broke these Terms, created risk or legal exposure for us or others, or to comply with the law, and we keep records of what we did. Where practical and lawful, we will tell you what we did and why. To appeal, write to admin@twelvetable.com.
  • We are not obliged to monitor all content and are not responsible for content posted by users.

To tell us that content infringes your copyright, write to admin@twelvetable.com. Say what the work is, where it appears on Twelvetable, and how we can reach you.

15. Our intellectual property

We or our licensors own the Service, including its software, design, the twelve-dot logo, the AI Host, formats, games and prompts, and the name “Twelvetable”. They are protected by law. We give you a personal, revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the app and the Service as these Terms allow. Do not use our name, logo or trademarks without our written permission, except to refer to the Service accurately. Model and provider names (such as Claude, GPT and DeepSeek) belong to their owners. We show them only to tell you which model runs a seat, and they do not imply any endorsement.

16. Feedback

If you send us ideas or feedback, including through TestFlight, we may use them with no obligation to you.

17. Termination and account deletion

You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in the app (Me → Delete account). Deleting your account:

  • removes your profile, saved personas, drafts, blocks and usage records, and ends any table you own that is still running;
  • revokes Twelvetable’s access to your Sign in with Apple account, if you used it;
  • does not remove what you already wrote at tables that have ended. Those tables stay readable to the people who could read them before, and your messages are shown as “Deleted user” instead of your name. What you wrote may itself identify you;
  • keeps the reports you filed, without any link to you. It also keeps a one-way code that stops anyone from lifting a ban, or resetting this month’s free tables, by signing up again. See the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or end your access at any time if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering the Service. If we shut the Service down, we will try to give reasonable notice. Sections 6, 8 (for content that remains), 9, 12 (charges), 15 and 17 to 25 survive termination.

18. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service, including all AI-generated content, is provided “as is” and “as available”. We disclaim all warranties and conditions, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement and accuracy. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that AI output will be accurate or appropriate, or that content will be preserved. We are not responsible for the conduct of other users or for third-party services, including AI providers.

Some places do not allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.

19. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we and our directors, officers, employees and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages. Nor will we be liable for lost profits, data or goodwill, or for charges billed by third parties (including your AI provider). This applies to anything arising from or related to the Service, even if we were told such damages were possible.

Our total liability for all claims related to the Service is limited to the greater of CA$100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, for example to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

20. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you will defend and indemnify us against third-party claims, and the losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that come with them, that arise from your content, from your use of the Service in breach of these Terms, or from your breach of law or of someone else’s rights.

21. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

You and we agree that the courts located in Toronto, Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service.

Before filing a claim, please write to us at admin@twelvetable.com so we can try to resolve the issue informally.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the consumer protection law of the place where you live, including any right to bring a claim in your local courts, to take part in a class proceeding, or to have your local law apply.

22. Apple App Store terms

If you got the app from the Apple App Store or through TestFlight, these additional terms apply:

  • Parties. These Terms are between you and Tianhe Match Inc. only, and not with Apple Inc. (“Apple”). We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content.
  • License scope. Your license to the app is limited to use on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. Other accounts associated with you may also access the app through Family Sharing or volume purchasing where applicable.
  • Maintenance and support. We are solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for the app. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support services for the app.
  • Warranty. We are solely responsible for any product warranties not effectively disclaimed. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) of the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility, to the extent they are not disclaimed.
  • Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession or use of it. These include (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.
  • Intellectual property. If a third party claims that the app, or your possession and use of it, infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of that claim.
  • Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Developer contact. Send questions, complaints or claims about the app to Tianhe Match Inc. at admin@twelvetable.com.
  • Third-party terms. When you use the app, you must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement, for example your wireless data service agreement and, if you use your own provider key, your AI provider’s terms.
  • Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

For an app you got from Apple, these Apple terms control if they conflict with the rest of these Terms.

23. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms, and we will change the effective date when we do. For material changes, we will tell you through the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after changes take effect, you accept them. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.

24. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a right, we have not waived it. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. Neither of us is liable for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control. We may send you notices in the app or to the email linked to your account.

25. Contact
